Enjoyed today’s drive more than i expected…. Wall to wall sunshine, again, and that always helps. The countryside a little more varied but still not what you might call exciting for photography…. Became steadily more arable as we drove south: again could not tell what they were sowing this time of year, but did see more and more of the hay bailed in white plastic that we saw lots of in southern Norway.
What we don’t see on UK roads and motorways are the huge trucks towing even larger trailers – the biggest i saw had nine axels in total!!!
Sitting now in my cabin aboard the FinnLady about five hours in on our 30 hour cruise ,watching Nadal at Wimbledon on the TV…. invested in on-board WiFi so i could follow the Test Cricket on my iPhone: Holy Joe and Jonny Bairstow setting things up nicely for tomorrow!!!
Here are a few pics for you, which if nothing else will demonstrate i am not fibbing about the weather – the first one is taken from the balcony of my hotel room in Kokkola – first time i’ve had one of those this trip!

The final pic is of a small naval vessel i could not identify but which i imagine was Finnish Fisheries Protection or similar….. There is a Russian Naval base just around the corner in St Petersburg which is mainly about submarines from what Google tells me!
Looking forward to a day of sunning myself on deck tomorrow and following another remarkable English cricket victory against India, weather permitting of course!!!
